Overview
Dr Amin Paykani is a Senior Lecturer in Automotive Engineering specialising in Automotive Propulsion Systems at School of Engineering and Technology, University of Hertfordshire. He received his PhD in Automotive Engineering from Iran University of Science and Technology. During his PhD, Amin developed natural gas/diesel reactivity controlled compression ignition (RCCI) combustion. Prior to joining University of Hertfordshire, he was a postdoctoral researcher at Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH) responsible for studying "optimal fuel blends in natural gas fuelled SI engines". He has also been involved in the project "pre-chamber combustion system for SI engines". He has published more than 30 papers in international refereed journals and has been invited as a guest-editor and peer-reviewer for more than 10 Journals.
Research interests
Amin's research interests currently centre on improving the understanding of fuel design and engine optimization in advanced combustion engines. His research interests include:
- Low temperature combustion strategies (HCCI, RCCI, GCI)
- Synthetic and e-fuels
- Alternative fuels—including gaseous fuels
- Large-Eddy Simulation of turbulent reactive flows
- Chemical kinetics
- Alternative and novel automotive propulsion systems
