Research interests

I am a qualitative researcher with interests in: food poverty; urban regeneration; young people's experiences of health and wellbeing; food and alcohol environments; lived experiences of austerity and welfare reform; applied health and social care research with local partners; and community responses to health inequalities.

Overview

I completed an ESRC-funded PhD in Human Geography at Queen Mary University of London and an MA in the Social Sciences with the Open University.  After which, I worked at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine on the ORiEL study (Olympic Regeneration in East London), as part of SPHR@L (the School of Public Health Research) and finally on a Wellcome Trust Society and Ethics fellowship - Understanding the health and wellbeing challenges of UK food poverty and food aid: a qualitative study.  In 2020 I moved to the University of Hertforshire.  I am now Senior Research Fellow for the Prevention and Early Detection in Health and Social Care (PEDHSC) Theme of the NIHR funded East of England Applied Research Collaboration.
