Overview

The majority of my research whilst at UH has been in the renal field, inculding validating the Chronic Kidney Disease Patient Reported Experience Measure for UK Renal Registry and a project looking at the feasibility of changing patterns of dialysis for people with end stage renal disease.  I have worked on a number of funding applications, similarly focussed on renal research.

I joined the University of Hertfordshire in August 2016 as a Research Fellow. My post is part funded by the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) as a Senior Research Adviser for the East of England Research Design Service (RDS). In this role I offer advice to clinicians and others in healthcare applying for NIHR research funding.  I have a particular interest in PPI.

Prior to joining UH I was Senior Analyst for National Audit Office (NAO), working on a range of studies evaluating high risk, high value government projects including Universal Credit and structural tax reliefs.  The majority of my career has been spent in public sector research and evaluation.  Before working at NAO I was a Research Director at ORC International, where I led the Central Government Division, overseeing tender applications and delivery of research work.

I completed my BA(Hons) in Applied Social Research at Manchester Metropolitan University, where I also completed a Diloma in HE and Diploma in Youth and Community Work.  I completed my PhD at Aston University in 2001, looking at the organisational processes involved in managing safety risk.  After three years as a Research Fellow at Aston, and approx 10 years in public sector research, I did my MSc in Psychology here at UH in 2015/16.
