Overview
Originally from Kilkenny in Ireland, Brian joined the University in February 2017. Brian graduated in 2010 with a BSc (Hons) in Nutrition and Dietetics from the Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen. He is a registered dietitian with the Health and Care Professions Council, and has experience working as a clinical dietitian in hospitals in Ireland, London and the Midlands, England.
Brian completed his PhD at the University of Aberdeen, based in the Health Services Research Unit and Aberdeen Health Psychology Group. This Medical Research Council-funded doctoral programme of research systematically theorised and developed a workplace-based eating and physical activity behaviour change intervention for nurses.
Brian has also spent some time volunteering in India. His voluntary work was part of a wider nutritional surveillance project for Seva Mandir, a community development non-profit organisation in the Udaipur district of Rajasthan, India. Prior to joining the University, he served as a Lecturer in Dietetics and Nutrition at London Metropolitan University.

Development, implementation and evaluation of behaviour change interventions.
Clinical trials and evidence synthesis
Brian uses both qualitative and quantitative methodologies in his empirical work. His work is characterised by an interdisciplinary focus (eg health services research, dietetics, public health and health psychology).
